MUTTURA is that veil of humidity that descends, in the evening, over the Salento countryside. It is as thick as the fog and lasts until the first light of day, it is the light patina that stands between us and the reality of things, which prevents us from grasping the definition of the profiles. MUTTURA is also the patina on the eyes of those who do not want to see, out of laziness, out of interest, out of fear.
It is October 1997 when the Casalesi repentant, Carmine Schiavone, declares that the traffic and the burying of waste - coming from Italy and the rest of Europe - involves many areas of the south, including Salento. The minutes of this hearing will be declassified and made public only in 2013. As is known, in these same years the statistics on tumor incidence recorded an alarming increase, placing Salento above the regional and national average.
M gure, then, is born from here: from the desire to intercept a theater made of stories - the result of the original dramaturgy of Walter Prete - that in sketching the parable of the seven characters involved, retain their very strong real value.
For this Muttura tells the lives of seven characters, a showman, a truck driver, an academic, a radio speaker, a lawyer, a stakeholder, and a housewife - interpreted by the only two actors on stage, Gustavo D'Aversa and Patrizia Miggiano .
Muttura is colored by all the nuances of the scene, from the glimpses of the comedy to the shadows of the drama and uses different languages: the word, a minimal and neutral container as scenography and the audiovisual, thanks to the video productions of the videomaker Elisa Nocera, who with their divergence, they offer an additional point of view above the characters and individual stories.
Winner of the 2017 Primiceri Prize, during the writing phase the show had the fundamental contribution of the journalist Tiziana Colluto, precious help in the preliminary stages of research and collection of documentary material; M envelope also made use of the tireless work carried out over the years by dr. Giuseppe Serravezza, scientific director of Lilt (Italian League for the fight against cancer) of Lecce, aimed at identifying the link between toxic underground waste and tumor incidence in Salento.

Levèra: an etymology that means to raise, to lift, to support, to pry, to blow . A strong wind rises and blows from the suburbs. A wind of inclusion, of rebirth, of possibility, of trust.
