On stage, voices and shadows of men and women, pieces of a puzzle that come together, one after the other, to restore the vicissitudes of work and life of the tobacco workers of Salento.
- Ash - is a choral story born from the theater writing and storytelling workshop directed by the actor and theatrical pedagogue Fabrizio Saccomanno. To follow is a video-documentary projection -Tracce.Dialoghi on the roads of work- carried out with the boys and girls requesting asylum guests in the Sprar projects managed by Arci Lecce.
The Sunday event is part of the intercultural path started by Arci Lecce in collaboration with Workin 'Label, which involved girls and boys seeking asylum guests in the Sprar projects of Campi Salentina, Caprarica, Cavallino, Castrignano dei Greci, Castrignano del Capo, Lequile, Novoli, Patù, Galatina, Sogliano, Squinzano, Surbo, Trepuzzi.
Followed by the actor and theatrical pedagogue Fabrizio Saccomanno, their testimonies crossed with those rooted in the territory on the struggle and the emancipation of living and working conditions. Today's stories collected in the video - Dialogues on the streets of work -, directed by Christian Manno, which will be screened at the end of the show.
An experiment in interaction and intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, in the belief that the experience and history of residents and migrants can be important resources for the growth of civic and solidarity consciousness in people of all ages living in our country.
The cast of the show is composed by Caterina Cosmai, Angela Elia, Beppe Fusillo, Maria Grazia Gioffrè, Leila Polimeno, Luigi Pontrelli, Antonella Sabetta, Irene Scardia, Guido Scopece, Carmen Ines Tarantino. Starting from the research and the collection of written and oral testimonies, they show the hard working conditions, the struggles and in particular the general strike held for 28 days, between January and February, in 1961 in Tiggiano, a small town in the South of Salento, against the layoffs and the closure of the Warehouse, the local tobacco factory.
The struggle of the tobacco workers of Tiggiano, which saw the mobilization of the entire population in support of the 250 workers, represented an important historical event, without precedent in the history of the country.
