Starting from piazza castello di Andrano (LE), through country roads, we will take our steps towards the coastal tower called the tower of the stone, also known as the tower of the myth as it stands on the greenhouse of the same name, which falls under the municipality of Tricase.
Torre du Sassu or Torre du Mitu, is one of the innumerable towers built to defend the Salento area.
Torre del sasso is located at a height of 116 meters above sea level. All the watch towers were in view one with the other and communicated with each other and with the internal forts, also made up of fortified farms, also equipped with towers, so that they could communicate with the hinterland to sound the alarm if off the coasts there was an incursion, especially of Saracen pirates or Turkish fleets and allowed the people to leave the countryside and seek refuge. The towers communicated with each other through signals, during the day with fumes and at night with fires. It communicated to the north with the Porto Ripa tower and to the south with the Tricase port tower.
Once in Torre del Sasso, through paths and ancient sheep tracks, immersed in the Mediterranean vegetation that once led people to the sea, we will descend from the greenhouse of the myth, reaching sea level in the marina of Andrano, where we will head towards the green cave , one of the countless sea caves found along the whole coast, the name green cave is given by the emerald green crystalline color that can be seen in the second part of the cave, due to a beam of light that penetrates through the water.
Following the coast line first and then climbing back up the greenhouse, we will pass from the Capo Wolf tower and then return to the starting point.
