The XXV edition of the Day of Remembrance and Commitment in memory of the innocent victims of the mafias, promoted by Libera and Public Notice, will take place next March 21 in Palermo.
This year Libera turns 25 and what better time to meet together to honor the great goal, aware that in recent years the mafias have changed, they have changed their way of acting, making themselves more hidden but increasingly invasive and dangerous for our communities and our economies.
For this reason, in recent months, the dense network of associations and citizens belonging to Libera Lecce has come together to plan and implement an information program entitled - Thursdays of Libera - in three appointments towards the national date of March 21st.
For many years our territory has been a crossroads of national and international drug trafficking; Salento is now recognized as a market rather than a "supply" of any type of drug. A market that reaps victims not only among young people - and not so young - consumers but also among small drug dealers who in this activity find the only source of income that makes them slaves to a system that is too large and never completely dismantled.
For this reason, the territorial coordination belonging to Libera thought of a first appointment on Thursday 20 February on the theme of the mafia business that drugs produce in our territory, deepening not only the judicial aspect but above all the sociological one thanks to the contribution of professionals for some time engaged throughout the provincial territory.
