FOOD FOREST
Food forests and agro-forestry systems are cultivation systems based on polycultures (several plants in the same plant) of which many perennials or self-seeding. A Food Forest tends to self-fertility and self-regulation, through the planting of support plants alongside those for direct human use (fruit trees, medicinal plants, herbal tea, etc.). We imitate the forest to obtain maximum production from a small or large area with minimum inputs from the outside.
PROGRAM
In an unforgettable study experience and a lot of practice we will cover:
- Permaculture: what it is, ethics and design principles
- Food Forest: what it is, various approaches, examples
- Soil: Horizons, Interactions, Fertilization, Composting (hot compost, bocashi)
- Trees and forests: Trees and their energy transactions
- Ecology of a forest: natural sequences, layers of vegetation, density of vegetation, functional biodiversity (functions in the ecosystem, guilds), niches and species
- Structures, fences and areas of use: Patches
- Food Forest design: from the vision to the basic structure, to the details
- Site measurements and measurements
- Implementation of water retention and infiltration structures
- Selection of species
- Preparation, fertilization and inoculation of the soil
- Planting, cover crops and soil protection with mulching
- Plant propagation
- Ordinary and extraordinary management according to the stages of the Food forest.

Facilitates GIUSEPPE SANNICANDRO
He studies, designs and teaches Permaculture in Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Slovenia, Spain and Uganda. Co-founder of the Naumanni association - Migrant permaculture. Graduated in Permaculture in Tenerife and member and Tutor for the Permaculture Diploma recognized by the Italian Academy of Permaculture. He designs and offers consultancy to multifunctional farms, ecovillages, urban Permaculture projects. It organizes and teaches in courses and workshops of Permaculture, Regenerative Agriculture, Earthmoving, Water management, Keyline design, Soil fertility, horticulture and Food Forest.
